During the six-month period ended September 30, 2026, the global economy as a whole maintained a steady growth trajectory, supported by increased investment related to AI, particularly in the United States. On the other hand, uncertainties persisted amid geopolitical risks, including the situation in the Middle East, and inflation concerns.
Under such global economic conditions, the semiconductor market continued to grow robustly, driven by accelerating competition in AI technology and broader adoption across society. AI-related high-performance semiconductors such as SoC semiconductors and memory semiconductors for data centers drove market growth.
In Advantest’s business, as production volumes of AI-related high-performance semiconductors increased and semiconductor complexity grew with the adoption of advanced packaging and other technologies, customers continued to invest actively in our testers. Advantest worked to expand production capacity throughout the supply chain to meet customers’ strong tester demand in a timely manner.
As a result of the above, net sales were (Y) 845.2 billion (60.5% increase in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year), and operating income was (Y) 456.8 billion (96.5% increase in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year), due to factors including an increase in net sales and an improved sales mix. In addition, Advantest recorded financial income of approximately (Y) 57.0 billion, primarily attributable to valuation gains on investment securities. As a result, income before income taxes was (Y) 510.2 billion (121.3% increase in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year) and net income was
(Y) 368.1 billion (116.8% increase in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year). The depreciation of the yen against the U.S. dollar also contributed to our financial performance, with net sales, operating income, income before income taxes, and net income all reaching record highs in a six-month period. Average currency exchange rates in the current period were 1 USD to 160 JPY (146 JPY in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year), and 1 EUR to 185 JPY (166 JPY in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year). The percentage of net sales to overseas customers was 99.4% (98.3% in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year).

Overview of Financial Condition
Total assets as of September 30, 2026 were (Y) 1,732.1 billion, an increase of (Y) 560.3 billion from March 31, 2026. This was primarily attributable to increases in investment securities of (Y) 364.7 billion, inventories of (Y)
120.7 billion, and cash and cash equivalents of (Y) 61.8 billion. Total liabilities were (Y) 586.9 billion, an increase of (Y) 210.9 billion from March 31, 2026. This was primarily attributable to increases in bonds of (Y) 89.5 billion, trade and other payables of (Y) 46.5 billion, other current liabilities of (Y) 45.2 billion and income taxes payable of
(Y) 24.4 billion. Total equity was (Y) 1,145.1 billion. Ratio of equity attributable to owners of the parent was 66.1%, a decrease of 1.8 percentage points from March 31, 2026.
Overview of Cash Flows
Cash and cash equivalents as of September 30, 2026 were (Y) 401.8 billion, an increase of (Y) 61.8 billion from March 31, 2026. Significant cash flows during the first six months of the fiscal year are described below.
Net cash provided by operating activities was (Y) 307.0 billion (net cash inflow of (Y) 139.9 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year). This cash inflow primarily reflected income before income taxes of (Y) 510.2 billion, adjusted for an increase in inventories of (Y) 119.5 billion, income taxes paid of (Y) 109.8 billion, increases in trade and other payables of (Y) 46.7 billion and advance receipts of (Y) 44.2 billion, and non-cash items such as depreciation and amortization and gain on valuation of financial instruments.
Net cash used in investing activities was (Y) 210.9 billion (net cash outflow of (Y) 17.1 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year). This cash outflow primarily reflected (Y) 184.4 billion used for purchases of debt instruments.
Net cash used in financing activities was (Y) 30.4 billion (net cash outflow of (Y) 87.2 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year). This cash outflow primarily reflected (Y) 105.9 billion used for purchases of treasury shares and (Y) 21.8 billion used for dividend payments, partially offset by proceeds of (Y)
100.0 billion from issuance of convertible bonds with stock acquisition rights.
Outlook
Looking at Advantest’s business environment going forward, the semiconductor market is expected to achieve strong year-on-year growth in CY2026, driven by high-performance semiconductors for AI applications amid expanding AI-related investments. Advantest also expects the semiconductor tester market to reach a new record high in CY2026, particularly as inference AI evolves, driven by rising production volumes and increasing complexity of related high-performance semiconductors.
Based on this outlook and the progress made in the six-month period ended September 30, 2026, Advantest has increased its full-year consolidated forecast for the current fiscal year from the forecast provided as of July 2026 as follows: net sales forecast of (Y) 1,863.0 billion from (Y) 1,714.0 billion; operating income of (Y) 967.0 billion from (Y) 846.0 billion; income before income taxes of (Y) 1,021.5 billion from (Y) 891.0 billion; net income of (Y)
741.5 billion from (Y) 660.0 billion, respectively. This forecast is based on exchange rate assumptions of 1 USD to 150 JPY and 1 EUR to 170 JPY for the second half of the current consolidated fiscal year.
While Advantest anticipates that the current situation in the Middle East will lead to increases in certain costs, including logistics expenses, the direct impact on our business and earnings is expected to be limited at this time.
Meanwhile, demand for key components such as memory semiconductors continues to exceed supply as AI investments expand across industries. Advantest will accelerate efforts to expand production capacity while remaining focused on strengthening supply chain resilience to capture further growth opportunities.
Advantest will closely monitor changes in the external environment and respond expeditiously and with agility. At the same time, Advantest will strive to expand the value it provides to stakeholders over the mid/long-term by pursuing the measures set out in the Third Mid-term Management Plan.

(Segment Information)
Overview of Reportable Segments
Advantest manufactures and sells test system products and mechatronics-related products such as test handlers and device interfaces. Advantest also engages in research and development activities and provides maintenance and support services associated with these products.
Advantest manages its reportable segments and operating segments on the same basis. The reportable segments are determined based on the nature of the products and the markets. Segment information is prepared on the same basis that management reviews financial information for operational decision-making purposes.
The test system business segment provides product lines such as test systems for SoC semiconductor devices, test systems for memory semiconductor devices, test handlers and mechatronic-applied products for handling semiconductor devices, and device interfaces that serve as interfaces with the devices that are measured, and system level testing solutions for semiconductors and modules.
The services and others segment consists of comprehensive customer solutions provided in connection with the above segments, operations related to nano-technology products, support services, sales of consumables and others.
Information of Reportable Segments
Advantest uses the operating income (loss) before share-based compensation expense for management’s analysis of operating segment results.
Share-based compensation expense primarily represents restricted stock compensation expense.
Segment income (loss) is presented on the basis of operating income (loss) before share-based compensation expense.
Inter-segment sales are based on market prices.
